Two Textile Creations Juried into Art in the Workplace Exhibition at McMaster Innovation Park on View until June 26, 2025

Peacock

My passion for colour, vintage fabric, fancy doilies, outmoded ties, and old buttons comes together in my Textile Art series. I used vintage fabrics including hand-made woven ties, towels, placemats, an embroidered cloth bag, and vintage buttons to create Composition in Orange & Blue. To create Peacock, I used outmoded ties and a vintage silk calendar image on a piece of upholstery fabric.

My Optimism of Color Blog

Every Tuesday and Friday, I post a photo or piece of art that I’ve created that reflects what I call the Optimism of Color. Through vibrant colors and bold visceral forms, these works shout out my joy at being alive, and my good fortune at being able to continue to make art after surviving five cardiac arrests in one night in 2011.

Each of the images I post brings a smile to my face. I hope they bring you similar joy and laughter through the Optimism of Color.

  1. Congratulations LJ–I just love those two pieces–you have a great eye for colour and for composition.
