Three of my textile works are on exhibit from Friday-Sunday, Sept 26-28 in Tones, Textiles, Truths, a curated exhibition that’s part of Art Fair Hamilton at the Cotton Factory, 301-270 Sherman Avenue North, Hamilton, ON, Canada. The works in Tones, Textiles, Truths will remain on display at the Cotton Factory until Dec. 8.
My textile artwork merges collage and bricolage – the ingenuity of making do. The compositions are born from pieces I’ve used, found, collected, and cherished. These fabrics – worn, torn, and imperfect – are transformed into framed works of art, given new life and a kind of quiet transcendence. Their flaws become features, whispering stories of history, touch, and time.
Happenstance is my guide. I intuitively sift through my stash, drawn to textures and tones that feel inherently connected. I choose not to mend their imperfections, but to celebrate them – honouring the human hand that shaped them. In an age dominated by machine precision and artificial replication, I feel that this tactile dialogue is more vital than ever.
As a mixed media artist working in collage and found-object assemblage, I stand in opposition to the excesses of fast fashion and throwaway consumerism. Each piece is a quiet protest and a reminder: there is art, meaning, and undeniable value in what we so easily discard.

My Optimism of Color Blog
Every Tuesday and Friday, I post a photo or piece of art that I’ve created that reflects what I call the Optimism of Color. Through vibrant colors and bold visceral forms, these works shout out my joy at being alive, and my good fortune at being able to continue to make art after surviving five cardiac arrests in one night in 2011.
Each of the images I post brings a smile to my face. I hope they bring you similar joy and laughter through the Optimism of Color.
