Eighteen works from my Optimism of Colour series, including Acrobatics shown above, are on exhibit throughout December at the Synonym Café on James St. N. in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada.
Here’s my artist’s statement for the exhibition: “Optimism of Colour is a celebration of resilience, renewal, and the sheer joy of being alive. Born from a near‑fatal accident and the shadows of recovery, this series transforms trauma into radiant energy.
Through bold hues and visceral forms, the works pulse with movement and emotion, embodying the optimism that fuels my creative journey. Each piece is a testament to colour’s power to uplift, to heal, and to spark delight.
These paintings bring a smile to my face every time I see them. My hope is that they offer viewers the same sense of joy, vitality, and possibility, an invitation to witness optimism made visible.”

My Optimism of Color Blog
Every Tuesday and Friday, I post a photo or piece of art that I’ve created that reflects what I call the Optimism of Color. Through vibrant colors and bold visceral forms, these works shout out my joy at being alive, and my good fortune at being able to continue to make art after surviving five cardiac arrests in one night in 2011.
Each of the images I post brings a smile to my face. I hope they bring you similar joy and laughter through the Optimism of Color.
