Through the Windows of The Canadian: A Visual Meditation
The seven trips I’ve made on The Canadian, VIA Rail’s iconic Vancouver-Toronto route resulted in thousands of photographs taken from the train’s windows. This video weaves 200 of my images into a meditative journey across British Columbia’s rugged mountains, the vast openness of the Prairies, and the deep forested beauty of Northern Ontario.
With each image capturing a fleeting moment, Railroad Reflections is an intimate study of movement and the quiet wonder of watching a country unfold one kilometre at a time. Whether you love photography, train travel, or the geography of Canada, this visual journey invites you to slow down, breathe, and simply witness the country rolling by.
Some photographs from this video are available in a keepsake, print-on-demand publication: Railroad Reflections: Views from The Canadian from Amazon.

My Optimism of Color Blog
Every Tuesday and Friday, I post a photo or piece of art that I’ve created that reflects what I call the Optimism of Color. Through vibrant colors and bold visceral forms, these works shout out my joy at being alive, and my good fortune at being able to continue to make art after surviving five cardiac arrests in one night in 2011. Each of the images I post brings a smile to my face. I hope they bring you similar joy and laughter through the Optimism of Color.
