About the Optimism of Color Blog

For 365 days, I am posting a photo or piece of art that I have created that reflects what I call the Optimism of Color. Through vibrant colors and bold visceral forms, these works shout out my joy at being alive, and my good fortune at being able to continue to make art after a near death experience.

Each of the images I post brings a smile to my face. I hope they bring you similar joy and laughter through the Optimism of Color.

  1. Lovely!

    • Gorgeous work here! Bravo! The best of color field meets an emotionally cgahred imagination of an artist at work. I really appreciate the color interaction, the movement, the joy of the marks and hues in continuous combination, and most of all that you found a way to do something so specifically that I think many of us have wanted to do when when looked at Rothko, Albers, Mitchell, or other work. Congrats!

  2. Jon- Wow! I just opened to the ArtInBrooklyn webtise and was transported by these paintings to another place. I love all three but this is my first time to see Shapes in Space so let me comment ..I love the color, especially the blues and the small squares give the piece a sort of human dimension. Whereas the other two pieces are strike me as more purely spiritual, other-worldly flowing, arches and circles the small colored blocks of Shapes in Space seem to say something about the intersection of humankind with the spiritual realm since I tend to think of boxes as a human creation. Thanks for these wonderful pieces they look great here on the webtise!
