The photos of the glamorous mannequins in my video were made in Quebec, Ontario and British Columbia, Canada.
Some have been featured on this blog, in exhibitions, and in my Magcloud print-on-demand publication.
Now I thought I’d give new life to these mute beauties by creating a short video. Hope you like it.
Thirty-eight of the photos from the video are available in a keepsake, print-on-demand publication with free digital download from Magcloud
All Dolled Up prints and merchandise are available at Pixels
Background to All Dolled Up
In adolescence, as a tall and gangly girl, I admired the glamorous models I saw in Seventeen and Vogue magazines.
So, it was no surprise that later in my travels I was attracted to mannequins in store windows, flea markets, and museums.
I photographed these mute beauties who epitomized their eras and who, paradoxically, seemed to be alive with unique personalities and stories to tell, if only they could speak.
My Optimism of Color Blog
Every Tuesday and Friday, I’m posting a photo or piece of art that I’ve created that reflects what I call the Optimism of Color. Through vibrant colors and bold visceral forms, these works shout out my joy at being alive, and my good fortune at being able to continue to make art after surviving five cardiac arrests in 2011.
Each of the images I post brings a smile to my face. I hope they bring you similar joy and laughter through the Optimism of Color.
