Covid-19 certainly challenged my optimism this past year. But for me a highlight was posting Flowers of Hope on my blog for 40 days during this unprecedented time.
I hope that these postings of some of my flower photos along with inspiring quotes helped soothe and uplift your spirits during the early days of the pandemic.
This experience led me to transform my Flowers of Hope images into a video – my first ever – and to set up my YouTube channel.
I also posted the images for sale as photos and on a vast array of merchandise, including face masks, on Pixels-Fine Art America.
Later I transformed all the images into a MagCloud print-on-demand publication and into a print-on-demand Calendar.
From this beginning during the dismal days of the pandemic, I went on to create more videos – All Dolled Up, Mexico Obscura, Strands of Time – and to add more photos to Pixels/Fine Arts America.
Thus, sharing my photographs through various media with a global audience has provided me with an optimistic outlook for 2021.
I made this image of a Lipstick Palm close to home in the Tropical Greenhouse in Gage Park, Hamilton, Ontario, Canada.
My Optimism of Color Blog
Every Tuesday and Friday, I’m posting a photo or piece of art that I’ve created that reflects what I call the Optimism of Color. Through vibrant colors and bold visceral forms, these works shout out my joy at being alive, and my good fortune at being able to continue to make art after surviving five cardiac arrests in 2011.
Each of the images I post brings a smile to my face. I hope they bring you similar joy and laughter through the Optimism of Color.
